(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This resort is located just off the Humminbird Highway right across from the Blue Hole National Park. They specialize in adventure, particularly caving taking advantage of the many caves in the area. They have some of the most highly trained caving guides in the country part of which form a cave and rescue team. In fact they do a variety of Educational courses for students and professional on caves and ecology. The property sits on the banks of the Caves Branch River. Thatched roof cabanas are the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. They have large screened windows with nice views of the river and surrounding gardens and jungle. The interior design is fairly basic with kerosene lamps, but have nice accents like wodden floors and bright colored tapestries. There are a couple of jungle showers surrounded by thatched palms for privacy but with a roof open to the jungle canopy. They are actually quite nice. They have some more spacious suites with local artowrk and private bathrooms. They recently finished construction on some stunning treehouse suites adding a taste of luxury to this adventure lodge. Large trees go right through your suite floor, rich wood furniture and artwork adorn the suite and the screened decks give you beautiful views of the river. These rooms are great for couples on a honeymoon or romantic escape. Food is served bouffet style in their restaurant where you'll also find the bar. They run a variety of caving expeditions including overnight adventures into caves or the jungle. They also do tours to Maya ruins, kayaking, zip lining and more. I recommend this resort to anyone with a taste for adventure. Also if you are a student group or just have a keen interest in education, consider their educational programs.
