(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) Caye Casa is a small boutique hotel on the northside of San Pedro town. It's still within walking distance to downtown where you'll find a variety of restaurants, shops and bars, but the area itself is quiet and more secluded. In fact it's a residential area where many locals live. This resort started off with only a couple casitas on the beach. They recently completed construcion on 6 stunning 2 and 3 bedroom villas beside the original casitas. The villas are spacious, with wooden furniture, stainless steel kichen apliances, warm colors, local artwork and luxury amenities like flat screen televisions. They open up to private balconies with lounge chairs facing the sea. There is a small pool beside as you walk in as well. There is no restaurant or bar but as I mentioned you can walk downtown to find many. Or head to the local grocery store and stock your kitchen up with food and drinks. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the comforts of a furnished villa in a quiet area that is still within walking distance of downtown San Pedro, especially if you want something smaller and intimate away from the "big resort" atmosphere. The rates also make these villas a great value.
