(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This resort is located a few miles west of San Ignacio town in a broadleaf forest. The owners originally ran their peice of land as a farm and through the years have turned it into a highly rated jungle lodge. They have a variety of thatched roof cabanas and villas spaced throughout the property surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens. The cabanas range from your standard cabanas to sprawling suites complete with a Jacuzzi on a wooden deck overlooking the jungle. There are also several villas that can accomodate families or groups. All the accomodations are spacious and have a great attention to detail in their interior design. You'll find bright colored tapestries, rich wood furniture (in fact the resort has their own woodwork shop), a lot of artwork and warm lighting. You'll find the restaurant and bar in a pair of thatched roof palapas serving up a variety of dishes and drinks. They also have a butterfly farm which you can visit. Sometimes they put a glass box infront of your room with a pupae which hatches into a Blue Morpho butterfly in the next few days of your stay. They also have a horse stable and a spa offering a variety of treatments. Beside the spa theres is a small cabana, screended on all sides, which is a great place to get a massage with views of the jungle. There are trails leading around the property, including one that takes you down to the Macal River where you can grab a canoe and go for paddle. They have their own trained guides which can take you along the trails which have good birding. I recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a great tropical luxury jungle resort.
