(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This historic hotel was one of the first hotels to be opened on the island. It was started by Celi McCorkle in the 1960's with just 5 bedrooms and 1 bathrrom. Today the hotel stands 3 strories in a cozy wooden Colonial design. It's greatest appeal is it's location, on the beach in downtown San Pedro within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shops. All the rooms overlook the sea from their balconies and are cozy and comfortable. On the first floor you'll find Celie's restaurant serving delicious deli-type meals. You'll also find Hang Over Sports bar which opens up to an outdoor sitting area overlooking the sea. There's a small beach infront of the property with some beach chairs. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Being that it is right in the downtown area there is always a lot of activity. So if you like to be close to the action, perfect. But if you want seclusion, look for one of the resorts north or south of town. I recommend this hotel for people who want a comfortable room with a cozy atmoshpere right in downtown San Pedro.
