(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This resort is located about 45 minutes south of the tiny Garifuna village of Hopkins. The resort is nestled right on the beach and is part of a 300 acre private jungle reserve. One of the really nice things about this resort is that instead of clearing out the natural vegetation to build the property, they actually took great care to preserve it and build the resort around the trees. The end result is a lush jungle that grows all the way to the beach and a resort that blends into it's natural environment. Their 25 thatched roof cabanas line its 1300 foot beach, spaced apart for privacy and nestled among the trees just steps from the beach. The cabanas are very spacious with hardwood floors, sofas, 4 poster canopy beds, beautiful artwork and a spacious deck. In the main house you'll find the restaurant and bar. The owners are Italian so the pizzas and pastas are mixed in with local Belizean dishes. Just infront of the main house is the pool, overlooking the beach and surrounded by coconut trees. A couple times a week they feature Garifuna drummers and dancers for your entertainment. They have their own naturalist guides that run a variety of tours both into the jungle and out to sea. They also have a certified dive shop. To top it all off you'll get a friendly staff eager to please. I recommend this resort for anyone looking for a remote beach experience and a combination of jungle and sea adventures. Couples will enjoy the private cabanas and remotness of the resort.
