This resort is loctated about 5 miles from Punta Gorda town, just a 20 minute drive away. It's is perched right on top of a towering hill with amazing views of the surrounding dense jungle canopy and far off hills. It is part of the private Lauging Falcon Reserve which covers 11,000 acres. The Rio Grande River wraps around the hill. However you can't see it from the resort, you have to take the tram down the hill. This resort was first a fishing lodge before its new owners took it over. They have made it into a eco jungle lodge and added more luxurious accents to the property. The main house covers 2 stories with sprawling wrap around wooden decks on each floor offering beautiful views. On the first floor you'll find a lounge area where guests can interact complete with pool table, bar, sofas, small library and board games. They also have a fly tieing table. Toledo has a variety of fisheries including excellent permit saltwater flats and jungle rivers teeming with snook. On the second floor you'll find the dining room with vaulted ceilings where you can enjoy a variety of dishes (you can also have your meals on the deck overlooking the jungle canopy. They have an organic garden so many of the ingredients are fresh. Walking out of the main house you'll reach the pool, surrounded by lush gardens, great views and comfortable pool chairs. It's a great place to relax. Spaced around the property are 12 cabanas with vaulted ceilings, sitting area, warm lighting and private balcony with hammock and elegant accents throughout. 2 of the cabanas are deluxe with 4 poster bed, sofa in the sitting area, study desk, coffee maker and mini-fridge. Overall this is one of the great luxury jungle lodge in Toledo. I recommend this resort to anyone who wants a touch of elegance in a secluded jungle resort particularly if you have an interest in birding, Mayan culture and fishing.
