You have to take a water taxi for the 15 minute boat ride in and out of town where you'll find a variety of restaurants, bars and shops. The boats run about every hour and on weekends there are boats at night if you want to stay in one of the bars in town. The appeal of being north of town is the tranquility and seclusion. There are several resorts that have their own restaurant and bar within wakling distance of Mata Chica such as Rojo Lounge (the restaurant/bar of Azul Resort) which is just beside this property. So there are some dining options aside from the resort's own restaurant. In the towering thatched roof lobby you'll find the restaurant, bar, hot tub (which faces the beach) and a lounge with couches and a pool table. Lounge music plays all the day with the likes of Cafe del Mar and Buhhda Bar creating a cool atmosphere. To one side of the lobby is the pool, which they just recently added. The thatched roof cabanas line the beach and the gardens of the property. They are beautifully decorated with bright colors and local artwork. You'll find a hammock on your balcony and beach chairs lining the beach. Behind the cabanas there are 3 houses. Two of them are 2 bedroom villas and the third is a massive 3 bedroom villa. Overall this resort offers a cool beach atmoshpere with casual tropical luxury. I recommend this resort primarily for couples for its romantic atmosphere.
