(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This hotel is located right in San Ignacio town. While some prefer to stay in secluded jungle lodges, others prefer to be right in town. This town has quaint restaurants and a few bars and overall is a very laid back place. You cross over the Hawksworth bridge to visit it's sister town of Sant Elena and come back across a wooden bridge. Both are oneway bridges crossing the Mopan River. The local market is a good stop where you can see local farmers displaying their fresh procude. Burn's avenue, more of a narrow street really, has a variety of little restaurants, guesthouses and tour offices. In terms of tours, the central location of the town means almost any tour in the area can be done from here fairly easily. San Ignacio hotel is located just past the Hawksworth bridge on a hill. Its claim to fame is that the Queen of England stayed here on her visit to Belize. They recently remodelled the entire property. The elegant lobby has vaulted ceilings and a winding staircase. The rooms range from standard rooms with a balcony to luxurious suites. In general all the rooms are spacious, comfortable and have nice elegant accents. The restaurant and bar overlook the pool and jungle. They also have a tennis court. One popular attraction is their iguana exhibit where they raise iguanas and release them into the wild. Overall this is a great option if you want to stay in San Ignacio town with a touch of luxury.
