This resort is located just north of Placencia village about 5 minutes by car. It is owned by the famed Hollywood director Francis Ford Copolla, who you might remember from Apocolypse Now. He also owns Blancaneaux Lodge in Mountain Pinde Ridge. Turtle Inn is a very exotic and tropical beach resort. In fact the architect who designed the property specialized in tropical gardens and southeast asian architecture. As you enter the property you'll walk across a wooden walkway over a pond with turtles. You'll enter the main building with a towering thatched roof that is open to the the rest of the property. Under it you'll find the restaurant, bar and lounge areas with plush couches. Just infront is the pool with a beachside thatched roof palapa bar. The rest of the property is dotted by thatched roof cabanas and villas surrounded by gardens. The 2 bedroom villas have a living room and kitchennete that opens up to spacious wooden deck, all screened in with views of the beach and sea. The most impressive of the villas is the Pavillion House which comes with its own beachfront pool. The cabanas are tastefully designed as well and some were specifically designed for couples such as the honeymoon cottage and chinese matrimonial suite. Overall the accomodations feature an exotic design (a lot of furniture was imported from Bali) with hardwood furniture, hand carved detailings on doors and archways, lots of artwork and outdoor showers with a small private garden surrounded by high walls for privacy. There is a great attention to detail in the design of the cabans and villas. Thre resort also has a spa with a Thai massage therapist. I recommend this resort to anyone looking for an exotic beach resort. It's also very good for couples on a romantic escapge as well as a sunset beach wedding.
