"Belize has a large population of jaguars which roam through the jungle along with the other 4 species of wildcats found in the country: margay, jaguarundi, puma and ocelot. The Cockscomb Basin in southern Belize is often called the Jaguar Preserve, because of the large numbers of cats found in this massive 100,000 acre protected park. However, they are also found in almost all of Belize's other protected reserves. I like this shot because we normally think of jaguars as aggressive and cunning hunters. And this is true, however in this picture this jaguar is just relaxing on a branch, escpaing the sun's heat under the cool shade of a tree." Alex Gamero |
