This package will take you for a week in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye to dive the Barrier Reef as well as Lighthouse Reef Atoll (home of the Blue Hole). This island is the original diving destination of Belize, with some of the first dive shops in the country. In fact tourism started here because of the great diving. The Barrier Reef is less than a quarter mile from the shoreline. Standing on the beach you can clearly see the waves breaking over the reef. Because the reef is so close the boat ride to most dive sites is only 20 minutes, so you can easily do 2 dives in the morning and be back on the island by lunch time. Dozens of dives sites line the reef infront of this island; you can dive for days without diving the same site twice. Hol Chan Marine Reserve is the most popular diving area in Belize with healthy marine life and beautiful spur and groove canyons. This package includes 2 days of diving the Barrier Reef, with 2 tanks each day. It also includes a day trip to Lighthouse Reef Atoll, the most remote of Belize's 3 coral atolls. The most famous dive site on this atoll is the Blue Hole. First explored by Jacques Cousteau, it's an almost perfect circular sinkhole that drops to over 400 feet. At around 140 feet the walls curve inwards lined by massive stalactities. Half Moon Caye sits on the southern end of the atoll and was designated a UN World Heritage Site in 1982. It has a beautiful halfmoon shaped beach (hence the name of the island) as well as a nestring ground for the rare Red Footed Booby Bird. The reef wall infront of this island is also specacular. Another great wall that you'll get to dive on this day trip is Long Caye wall. Ambergris Caye is Belize’s most popular destination. This island, off the northern coast of the country, centers around the vibrant town of San Pedro. Upon arriving, you will quickly learn the meaning of the local motto, “no shoes, no shirt, no problem”.  Immersed in the tropical humidity and salt-laden breezes, shoes are usually the first to go, with shorts and shirts replaced by bathing suites and tees soon after. Its cobbled stone and sandy streets are lined by dozens of restaurants, bars and shops. Eating ranges from a casual barbecue on the beach to a 3 course gourmet dinner. The bar scene is great with quaint beach bars, live music and even a couple nightclubs for some dancing. Overall San Pedro is just a great place to relax and have fun. There’s a reason Madonna made a whole song about this island, calling it “Isla Bonita”.

Itinerary & What's Included:
-  You will be welcomed at the International Airport by a representative of DiscoveringBelize.com
-  The transfer from the Airport to Ambergris Caye is not included. Your options include a Water Taxi boat (a 2 hour ride) or a puddle jumper plane (a 15 minute flight). We can easily arrange any of these options for you.
-  6 Nights Accomodation on Ambergris Caye. You have a choice between staying at Sunbreeze Beach Hotel or Ramon's Village Resort.
-  2 Tank Barrier Reef Diving (2 Days) - includes dive gear, snacks, drinks and park fee.
-  3 Tank Lighthouse Reef Atoll Diving, including the Blue Hole - includes dive gear, lunch, snacks, drinks and park fee.
-  After your stay, the transfer from Ambergris Caye back to the Airport is not included. Your optinos include a Water Taxi boat ride or a puddle jumper flight. We can easily arrange any of these options for you.

Sunbreeze Beach Hotel in San Pedro, Abmergris Caye

This hotel is located in the heart of San Pedro Town. You can enjoy all the town has to offer with just a short walk. It offers comfortable rooms, a nice courtyard, a pool and an excellent restaurant and bar, the Blue Water Grill. All the rooms offer either a partial or full view of the sea. It has managed to stay afloat amongst the fierce competition of hotels on the island by being consistent in its service and comfort. Overall, it is a great value.

Ramon's Village Resort in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye

This hotel is located in the heart of town as well, with everything just a short walk away. This was one of the first big resorts on the island and has maintained its appeal throughout the years. Its unique style stands out with thatched roof cabanas and lots of foliage. They have a nice sandy beach lined with beach chairs in front and a pool shaded with coconut trees. The Parot Bar serves a mean selection of drinks too. Overall, it adds an exotic atmosphere to staying on the island.

Ambergris Caye Barrier Reef Diving

There are literally dozens of dive sites along the shoreline of San Pedro, each with their own unique topography and marine life. Most dives are around 60 feet. Sites of interest include Hol Chan where will spur and groove canyons. Being that it is a protected reserve, there is an abundance of fish like large groupers, southern stingrays, moray eels and the like. Cypress tunnels is a nice swim-through tunnel about 20 feet long, that gets your heart beating a little going through. You can literally fill several days diving the local reef without visiting the same spot twice. This is a 2 tank dive and 2 days are included in this package.

Lighthouse Reef Atoll Diving, including the Blue Hole

This is a full day of diving with 3 dives you are sure not to forget. Lighthouse Reef is a coral atoll, and is the most remote of the 3 atolls in Belize, making the reef and marine life the most pristine here. You start with a bang, plummeting 140 feet into the famed Blue Hole, a 400 foot collapsed cave with massive stalactites and sharks! Be warned, this dive is about the cave, there is no rich marine life or corals here. However the next 2 dives are walls with breathtaking coral formations and marine life, especially Half Moon Caye wall, where the corals just seem to grow on top of one another. You will also stop on Halfmoon Caye where you can relax in its crescent shaped beach and check out the endangered Booby birds. Overall this is a very memorable day of diving.
